FireShot Pro v2.1.4.18 update reset / overwrote my screenshot History

Hello FireShot Support,

I am using FireShot Pro v2.1.4.18 (64-bit) on Windows with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge Beta.

I first noticed the problem in Google Chrome. After today’s FireShot update, Chrome showed the update notice and then the FireShot History appeared to be reset / overwritten.

Before the update, my History retention setting had been set to:

“Period to store captured screenshots in History: Forever”

I had relied on this feature as a long-term reference log for previously captured screenshots, including the source URL and the assigned screenshot name.

Current situation:

- In Google Chrome, the previous History appears to have been overwritten. The History now only contains entries from today, 02.10.2026.
- In Microsoft Edge Beta, I did not see the update notice. However, the same general problem seems to exist there as well: almost all previous History entries are gone. Only a few older entries are still visible, for example from 17.09.2026, 30.07.2026 and 30.06.2026.
- I have not run / used the FireShot extension again in Edge after noticing this, because I do not want to risk overwriting any remaining recoverable data.
- I did not intentionally delete the History in either browser.

From a user perspective, this looks like possible data loss or a migration problem after the extension update. I understand that browser extensions may change their internal storage format, but if an existing “Forever” History was not migrated correctly, this is critical for Pro users.

Could you please help me with the following questions?

1. Was the old FireShot History intentionally reset during the update, or should it have been migrated automatically?

2. Is there a known migration issue with the History feature in FireShot Pro v2.1.4.18?

3. In Google Chrome, is there any chance to recover the previous History if the current History now only shows entries from 02.10.2026?

4. In Microsoft Edge Beta, since I have not used FireShot again after noticing the issue, is there a better chance to recover the previous History data from the local browser profile?

5. Where exactly was the previous History data stored locally on Windows?
   For example:
   - Chrome extension storage
   - Edge extension storage
   - a FireShot-specific local database
   - IndexedDB / LocalStorage
   - another folder under the browser profile or AppData

6. Is there a way to manually recover, re-import, or migrate the old History data into the new FireShot History?

7. If the data is still present somewhere locally, could you provide the exact folder path, file name, database name, or recovery steps?

8. If this is a bug, could the developers please consider adding a recovery or migration tool so that existing FireShot Pro users do not lose their previous screenshot History after the update?

System / environment:

- FireShot version: FireShot Pro v2.1.4.18 (64-bit)
- License: FireShot Pro
- OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
- Browser 1: Google Chrome 154.0.8077.98 (Official Build) (64-bit)
- Browser 2: Microsoft Edge Beta 155.0.4283.24 (Official build), beta channel (64-bit)
- History setting before update: Forever
- Problem first noticed in: Google Chrome
- Update notice shown in: Google Chrome
- Update notice not seen in: Microsoft Edge Beta
- Chrome result: previous History no longer visible; only entries from 02.10.2026 remain
- Edge result: almost all previous History entries gone; only a few older entries remain, e.g. 17.09.2026, 30.07.2026 and 30.06.2026
- Edge status: FireShot has not been used again after noticing the issue

Steps / what happened:

1. FireShot Pro was installed and used regularly.
2. The History feature was enabled and configured to store captured screenshots forever.
3. FireShot was updated today to v2.1.4.18.
4. In Google Chrome, I saw the update notice.
5. After that, the Chrome History contained only entries from today, 02.10.2026.
6. In Microsoft Edge Beta, I did not see the update notice, but the previous History is also mostly gone.
7. I have not run FireShot again in Edge after noticing this, to avoid overwriting possible recoverable data.

I can provide screenshots showing the previous “Forever” History setting, the current FireShot Pro version dialog, and the browser versions if needed.

I would appreciate guidance on how to proceed, especially whether I should back up specific Chrome / Edge profile folders before doing anything else.

Thank you.
