Email feature does not work

I use the latest version of FireShot in FF 21 on my Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit laptop. Great and extremely useful extension! There is one feature that does not work for me though - sending captured and edited image via Email. When I click Mail button, I have the IE-9 window opening and trying to connect to my Outlook account. Each time it fails to do so. The message reads: "Sorry, there seems to be a problem with Outlook".  However, when I click "return to Outlook", I get connected automatically to my account without any problems. I can also easily log in automatically into my Outlook account from IE Bookmarks. At the same time, there is no visible way in the Settings to set the Email account or Email Client for that purpose. This is too bad, because it is a very important feature in FireShot extension - to go straight to the Email Client. Any suggestions for me? Thanks.

I'm sorry, there's no direct solution right now. Email integration is terribly implemented on Windows. Perhaps, you have a good example of the program working fine with emails for you? Please let me know - I'll check it and try to mimic the functionality.

My default Email client is Windows Live Mail. I like it a lot. It has a clean User Interface, accommodates many email accounts and works very well. I frequently use Firefox browser to send website links by email, and FF always opens Live Mail without any problems with all proper information inserted into the New Mail draft.

Yes, you're right. The problems start when you need to programmatically create a "new email" dialog with the attachment pre-configuired. I tried many programs and could not find any working examples for my PC.

Well, Firefox works fine.

I have a small free program on my computer for screen capture called PicPick. I have just tried it to send the image directly to email. It worked without any problems. It opened the Outlook Email client that I have on my computer and created a new mail with a proper attachment to it.

One more piece of information. When I was trying to Send a file via right-click Context Menu to Mail Recipient, I was getting the same story - the IE would open and try to connect to Outlook without any success showing the message: "Sorry, there seems to be a problem with Outlook". This is exactly what I had with FireShot EMail option. So, what I did in my Vista was pretty simple - I went to the "Send To" folder, added a new Shortcut  and pointed it to ".../Outlook.exe" /a. Now when I want to send a file via Email - I point to Send To and my new link and it opens the Outlook program without any glitch and attaches the file to a new message. Perfect!

Thanks for this piece of info. I wish I could do this for all email clients used with FireShot. unsure

It would be probably almost impossible to do that for all Email clients. But it would be nice to have it working for at least one of them instead of none. I do not usually use Outlook as my Email client - it is mostly Windows Live Mail. However, I would be happy to have Outlook opened and ready to email my image from FireShot, when I need it mailed, rather than no clients at all. Many Windows computers do have Outlook as part of the Office installation anyway.

I'm agree. I'll think about it more, thanks!

Outlook seemed to be the mostly used email client around. Would be nice if we can start with that.
