Capture selection via Fireshot API

Question

Hi, I would like to use the 'capture selection' feature for my app. For that, I need a way to trigger the function via Fireshot API. I think the fsapi.js doesn't contain a function for that yet. Could you explain if this is currently possible and if not, if it is planned for a future release. Best regards Jonas

Hi Jonas ant thank you for your explanation. Yes, for now there's only a possibility of capturing either Entire or Visible part of the page - I never thought it might be useful for selections...

Thank you Jonas, I appreciate the implementation details you shared to us. I've included the Capture Selection API functionality into our next major release. If you need a test version, please let me know, and I'll provide it for you. The extension sends the screenshot data directly to our software and further processing is done by the software. By the way, I wonder if the Custom Upload option provided by FireShot Pro could fit your requirements. You can easily configure FireShot to upload a capture either to a special web server, or to a local service (the software that 'consumes' these screenshots could act as a web server to receive them as uploads). This functionality gives rich customization capabilities, plus you can use all the capturing methods that FireShot provides in that case. As a bonus you don't need any API integrations. Please let me know if you need more info on that.
