PDF from website not created until I close the webpage to be captured, then captures desktop instead

Pages: 1

I've mostly had great success with FireShot capturing entire pages, but I'm really stumped with one website. After I choose 'capture entire page' nothing happens. Usually it immediately starts generating the PDF, and if it's a long page, I can see the page scrolling down.

I've waited several minutes for something to happen, and finally gave up. The moment I closed the page, FS suddenly started generating the PDF, but it captured my desktop instead, which was open after I closed the page I was trying to capture. I've tried it several times, and this happened each time. Once it started generating when I scrolled down the page myself, and it captured just a sliver of the page. I also went back to the page after it started generating, and ended up with half a page showing my desktop, and the other half showing the webpage.

Does anyone know why this is happening, and if there's anything I can do to make it work? The page I was trying to capture is KPFA.org

Thanx so much.

I'm using:
FireShot version 0.98.64
Windows 7 Home 64 bit
Firefox 27.0.1

My first idea is to update your browser and FireShot to the latest versions. If you would like to check first whether it works or not, you could install a portable version of Firefox (https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable). It will not interfere with your local settings. Then install the latest version of FireShot and try capturing this page on this portable configuration.
Then you can decide if it 's worth to upgrade your local versions of FireShot and Firefox or not.

I tried the portable version with the latest version of FS on the Mozilla Addon site, and that worked somewhat. The resulting PDF had about half the images: Several were complete, one showed only half, and the others didn't show up at all.

I'm not ready to update my primary Firefox at this point, but I did just update FS to version 0.98.70, hoping that I might have better luck, but now it doesn't work at all anymore, on any pages. Is there a way to roll back to the previous version?

Thanks for your help.

I'm sorry, nevermind my last post about the new version of FS not working on my old Firefox version. Apparently after trying to capture the page in question with the new version it needed some time to recover from its own failed attempt, and wouldn't let me capture any other pages for a while either. But coming back to it half an hour later, it now works normally again, though it still doesn't capture that one page.

Since the capture in the portable version didn't work perfectly either, I'm wondering if there's something about that site that is interfering with FS working properly?

The free version has a limited capturing functionality. I tried capturing in FireShot Pro and it is captured well.

Wow, that's a perfect capture. Good to see how the Pro and free versions differ. Unfortunately I can't afford the Pro version and don't use even the free version all that often. I guess I'll use the portable trick for now, and get at least the text that way.

So, the problem isn't so much something going on with the website as it's my version of Firefox, or some interaction between the two? There's nothing that the web designers of that page could do to make it easier to capture?

Much appreciate your help.

According to my experience, the page capturing task isn't getting easier. A new markup is being introduced by web designers and I have to spend a lot of time for maintaining FireShot ready for these changes.

Thank you, JK, also for keeping this extension functioning. I much appreciate the work programmers like you do to keep up with the constant changes in web design.
