XMLLITE.DLL missing

Hello,

first of all congratulations and thanks for your application.

I'm running FS 0.85 on Firefox 3.6.8
My OS is Window XP family edition SP2, French

I received a few days ago a proposal to upgrade fireshot which I did. Since then, it doesn't launch anymore. I got this message :
'Fireshote needs XMLLITE.DLL for execution. Please install it'
then : Application javascript
'[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [ISSSLauncher.openCapture]"  nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)"  location: "JS frame :: chrome://fireshot/content/fsoverlay.js :: anonymous :: line 595"  data: no]

I uninstalled it then re-installed but still got the same problem.

Could you please help me in solving it ?

Thanks in advance

michel

Either Service Pack 3 should be installed or xmllite.dll should be downloaded and placed to windows\system32 folder

It's not always possible in a corporate world to install service pack 3 (yes I know SP2 is no longer supported) or a DLL.

Are there older versions of the extension available?

come, come JK.

you know very well that version 0.80 is not compatible with Firefox 3.6.8

the thing is that if you run windows XP with SP2 and have Firefox 3.6.8 you will NOT be able to use Fireshot.

Period.

In that case xmllite.dll should be downloaded and placed to windows\system32 folder

@ rchilan

hi michel,
thanks for writing a clear post about your problem, which i am sure many people with XP SP2 and the latest Firefox are facing.

added problem is that before you can download your dll from microsoft you need to install 2 other bits of microsoft software to validate that you run a real microsoft product and the whole thing is a pain in the ass.

after all that you still need access to the windows system32 folder to install and if you can not get there, because your boss does not allow (or your parents....) forget the whole thing.

lets hope the Fireshot boys get it sorted out, otherwise the XP SP2 people will go somewhere else.

@ JK

well, seeing you are online too:

as i said to michel the whole thing is a pain and it would be much easier if you could include the dll from your end.

xmllite.dll can be found there: https://screenshot-program.com/dloads/xmllite.dll

This is not obligatory to place it into system32 folder. You can save it into any folder specified in the %PATH% variable.

Fireshot needs XMLLITE.DLL for execution, please install it first.

Ok Im using Firefox 3.6.10, Windows XP. I have the same problem but NONE of what you said up there made any sense. Could you repeat it in common English for people like me who know only the very basics of computer talk? E.G where will I find this mysterious XMLLITE thingo and what is/where is the system32 folder or the %PATH% variable?

To the Guest user who posted on 21 Sep 2010 06:01...

Get the xmllite.dll file by saving the file at the link in JK's post (right click > save link as). Then go to C:\WINDOWS\system32 and move the xmllite.dll file into there, and then restart Firefox. Worked for me. =)

Hi JK,
I see you're online just now, so here goes.
I'm running Win2000 5.00.2195 SP4 & Firefox 3.5.16.
I've been getting the 'missing xmllite.dll' message.
I note that most messsages here reference XP.
Is the download you have suggested compatible with Win 2K?
And do I just m,ove the file to the win32 directory and then restart Firefox, or do I have to do a sytem restart or mess about with the registry?
Thanx.
Al

Hi,

simply download and unpack it to the directory specified in your %path% environment (not sure about win32, but win/system and win/system32 should work fine). No restart is required and it's compatible to win2000.

I have the same issue, and added xmllite to my \system and \system32 directories, and got the same error as above:
[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [ISSSLauncher.openCapture]"  nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)"  location: "JS frame :: chrome://fireshot/content/fsoverlay.js :: anonymous :: line 629"  data: no]

My system: FireShot 0.88
MS Windows XP Professional SP2, English
Firefox 4.0
To reproduce - attempt to launch FireShot in any fashion.
Posted:  27 Apr 2011 15:43
BTW - messages above suggest no need to restart Firefox or computer - should I do so?
Posted:  28 Apr 2011 08:27
Yes, you need restarting firefox.
