No, sorry to tell you the bad news, JK, but Fireshot really has got a problem ! I have the same problem than kecker but while I do screencaps as images ... It records them sometimes as PNJ, but often as MS-Dos files ! And my PC is very clean, I regularly check its security... So, it eventually come from Fireshot...

Yeah my PC was never infected, it was your application that was the problem. But since you couldn't be bothered to take the issue seriously and tried to blame me I used something else instead.

It is impossible to send an MS-Dos file ! Gmail blocks the upload for security reasons, so I sent you 2 screencaps of the file. You should have received them now.

I read your answer to my comment on the Firefox add-ons page about Fireshot. I found it very offensive and disrespectful... Exactly like is your behaviour from the start of the topic, against kecker and I... Never mind, you'll lose all users acting that way, because that will be known. I don't trust you at all. You ask me to do something dangerous for my PC, you treat us badly, telling your add-on has no problem, refusing to check it, so go to hell ! I won't use anymore your fucking add-on. I hate people behaving like you do ! Shame on you ! No "Sorry for the problem you meet" no "I will check my add-on", no "I will ask to the users", just "My program is clean, check your PC"... In your answer in the Firefox comments, you are publicly suggest that I wrote those things to hzarm your add-on but I actually don't want any help ! In other words, you call me a liar... This is not one bug in one browser. I met the problem on Firefox, on Chrome and on Opera... So that means there are 3 bugs in 3 API's browsers.

LOL, you don't really want to find the solution to the problem. You want to just blame anyone but your software. Your first reaction is to blame the user. When that doesn't work you blame their browser....without bothering to do even the most basic research.

FireShot Version 0.98.97.2 MS Windows 10 Pro, English Google Chrome is up to date, Version 81.0.4044.138 (Official Build) (64-bit) I just found out tonight that alot of my screenshots (pics and pdf) starting on 4-26-20 have saved as MS-DOS using FireShot. I'm not techy so bear with me and I will do what I can. I just took 2 screenshots of a google search as a test, 1 saved as a pic and other saved as a pdf and both saved as a ms-dos. IDK how or why! All I know is that I have saved some screen shots as pics since it started 4/26/20 and they saved as a jpeg but some didn't. 16 were after either paying a bill or making a purchase and I took a screenshot of each conformation page and saved in the corresponding folder as I have done for a few years now with no issues until now.

I have the same issue - workaround for Chrome is that copy to clipboard does work so I can paste to a word document then save that as a pdf etc. Save to pdf, save to image results in saving in "ms dos application" whatever that is. I just installed FS for Firefox to check and it works fine. Chrome is Version 83.0.4103.61 (Official Build) (64-bit) I have used FS for a while and until fairly recently worked great Thanks

Update to my prior message coupla mins back. I upgraded Chrome to Version 83.0.4103.97 (Official Build) (64-bit) and FS works fine now. So all good for me at least. Only checked the version to assist JK and saw google msg to click to update to latest version (i thought it did so automatically) Anyway, hope this helps y'all

Hey guys, here's a quick way to fix the files that are labeled wrongly. It should work for windows 7, 8 and 10. As for what is happening here, the default name given by fireshot to a file is composed of a file number + the name of the page + the name of the website. If the website name ends with .com, sometimes (not all the time, which I find even weirder), fireshot doesn't add a .pdf behind the .com, tricking Windows into thinking that it is not a .pdf file but a .com application. I'd suggest adding a rule that cuts out the extension of the website when naming the file, e.g. instead of having something like : "FireShot Capture 012 - _Is my mom at his place__ - Duolingo - forum.duolingo.com" (.pdf) You should end up with this : "FireShot Capture 012 - _Is my mom at his place__ - Duolingo - forum.duolingo" (.pdf) I'm just starting to learn computer programming so I really don't know how you should do that but I guess it's possible.

Even simpler, why not just switch the website name and the page name, so that the .com can't be mistaken for a file extension? Like this : "FireShot Capture 012 - Duolingo - forum.duolingo.com - _Is my mom at his place__" (.pdf) It's just an opinion of course, but to me it even looks cleaner that way, especially when you have several screenshots from the same website.

Quick followup on my first message (making the file extensions visible instead of hidden): not only does it allow to fix the broken files by hand, it also prevents further extension mixups when downloading new screenshots.
